GenFlix privacy policy.

1. Introduction

GenFlix (“GenFlix”, “we”, “us”) values your privacy as much as your craft.

We operate a data-driven cinema network. This means we collect and analyse information to verify the integrity of AI film, protect the rights of creators, and improve the viewing experience. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we generate intelligence from it, and when we share it.

We are an Australian entity operating globally. We adhere to the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and we embrace the standards set by the GDPR (Europe) and CCPA (California) as best practices for our global community.

2. Information we collect

The data we collect depends on your role within the network.

A. For creators (The Studio)

When you upload content for analysis, we collect:

Account Data: Name, email, handle, and authentication IDs (e.g., Google/Microsoft login tokens).
Creator Content: The raw video files, audio tracks, scripts, and metadata you upload.
Technical Forensics: To generate your Intelligence Report, our systems analyse your content for technical artefacts. This includes analysing the visual likeness of characters (to check for consistency/morphing) and audio waveforms.
Biometric Inferences: Important: Our “Performance Depth” analysis scans facial features in your video to evaluate “micro-expressions” and emotional consistency. While we do not use this to identify individuals for surveillance, we do process facial geometry data to grade the film.

B. For viewers (The Cinema)

When you watch films, we collect:

Behavioural Data: Exactly how you watch, where you pause, where you drop off (retention curves), and which titles you hover over. This fuels the “Resonance” score in the GenFlix Certification Index (GCI).
Device Data: IP address, browser type, resolution (to serve the correct stream quality), and location data (country-level).

3. How we use your information

We use data to move the industry from “noise” to “signal.” Specifically:

To Operate the Service: Hosting, streaming, and transcoding your film for global distribution.
To Generate the Standard: We process Creator Content and Viewer Behaviour to calculate the GCI Score (currently in beta). This score is public; the underlying private data remains yours.
To Improve AI Intelligence: We use aggregated and anonymised data (e.g., “scenes with high lighting shifts cause 40% viewer drop-off”) to train our internal analytical models.
To Communicate: Sending you your Intelligence Report, notifying you of GenFlix Grant eligibility, or service updates.

4. AI processing & third-party models

GenFlix is built on an ensemble of AI infrastructure.

The Pipeline: When you upload a film, it may be processed by third-party enterprise providers (such as Google Vertex AI) to generate the analysis.
No Generative Training: We have strict data-segregation agreements. We do not allow third-party providers to use your raw video files to train their public generative models (i.e., your film will not be used to teach an AI how to make new video).

5. Sharing and commercialisation

We are transparent about how we build our business.

Service Providers: We share data with hosting, security, and payment processors (e.g., Stripe) to keep the lights on.
Commercialisation of Intelligence (The “Signal”): As outlined in our Terms, GenFlix creates datasets based on aggregated insights (e.g., “Sci-Fi Retention Metrics”). We may sell or license these de-identified insights to research labs or model providers. We do not sell your personal contact info or your raw video files to data brokers.
Legal Compliance: We will disclose information if required by Australian law, a valid court order, or to protect the safety of our users.

6. International data transfers

GenFlix is based in Queensland, Australia, but our “Analytical Ensemble” lives in the cloud. Your data may be transferred to, and processed in, the United States, Europe, or other jurisdictions.

By using GenFlix, you consent to this transfer.

We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and enterprise data agreements to ensure your data remains protected to an Australian/GDPR standard, regardless of where it is processed.

7. Data retention

Creator Content: We retain your video files for as long as your account is active to provide the streaming service. If you delete a film, we remove the raw file from our public CDN, though retained backups may exist for a limited period.
Intelligence Data: We retain the GCI Scores and Intelligence Reports indefinitely as part of the historical Index of AI cinema.

8. Your rights (global)

Regardless of where you live, we offer you these rights:

Access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction: You can update your profile via the Studio at any time.
Deletion: You can request the deletion of your account. Note: This will remove your films from The Cinema and The Index.
Opt-Out: You may unsubscribe from marketing emails. (You cannot unsubscribe from transactional emails, such as “Your Audit is Complete”).

9. Security

We use enterprise-grade encryption for data at rest and in transit. However, no transmission over the internet is 100% secure. You upload content to the Studio at your own risk.

10. Cookies

We use cookies to keep you logged in and to measure The Index (viewer retention). You can control cookies via your browser settings, but disabling them may prevent the Cinema from recording your viewership correctly.
